The short answer
Show up at Brockton Oval for 6:30pm on a Tuesday or Thursday. A coach will meet you, point you to the right group, and you'll be training inside ten minutes. We'll handle BC Rugby registration after your first session, whichever side of the border you came from.
From overseas
VRC Rugby has been a natural home for international players for over a century. People who arrived on a working holiday visa, a partner's job, or a fresh start. Some played in their home union at a high level. Some hadn't played in years and used the move as a reason to come back.
You can train from week one. We'll handle the BC Rugby clearance from your home union after your first session.
From another province
Plenty of Rowers came west from another Canadian province. The transfer between provincial unions is straightforward, no clearance issues, no waiting periods. If you're arriving mid-season you can still train and play the rest of the year.

More than a team
Vancouver is small once you find your way in. The Rowers count Rugby Canada captains, MLR alumni, and people working across tech, finance, law, healthcare, trades, hospitality, the trades. We can't promise you a job.
Someone in the clubhouse on a Saturday evening probably works in your industry or knows someone who does, and is happy to make an introduction. That's how the club has worked since 1908.

Yes. Come to a Tuesday or Thursday training at 6:30pm at Brockton Oval. We'll get you on the pitch the same evening and walk you through the BC Rugby registration after your first session. Players arriving mid-season can train and play through the rest of the year.
Yes. There's no international clearance involved, just a BC Rugby transfer between provincial unions. Plenty of current Rowers came from Alberta, Ontario, Quebec and the Maritimes. We handle the paperwork once you've decided to commit.
No. BC Rugby registration doesn't depend on visa status. Plenty of Rowers play their year on a working holiday visa, and a few decide to stay.
You can train from week one. BC Rugby registration takes a few days to a couple of weeks depending on your home union's clearance. You can keep training through the wait, and we'll make sure paperwork is in before your first match.
Yes. VRC Rugby runs a competitive women's side in BC Rugby Division 2, training alongside the men on Tuesday and Thursday at Brockton Oval. Players who've represented BC line up next to women who'd never picked up a ball before moving here.
We run summer touch rugby on Thursday evenings at Brockton Oval, no contact and open to members and guests. Mini and Youth programs run for kids from age 4 through U16. The clubhouse on Coal Harbour is open after training and matches.
Probably. The alumni list runs across most of Vancouver's professional sectors. We won't promise you a job, but someone in the clubhouse on a Saturday evening usually works in your industry, knows someone who does, and is happy to make an introduction.
Brockton Oval is inside Stanley Park in downtown Vancouver, a 10-minute drive from East Van and a 15-minute SkyTrain ride from Burnaby. Drive in via Stanley Park Drive (paid parking, usually quiet after 6pm), bus or SkyTrain to Waterfront and walk along the seawall, or cycle in.
