Youth Rugby Returns to Stanley Park: VRC Relaunches Minis & U16 Programs for 2025/26

The Vancouver Rowing Club Rugby Section is thrilled to announce the re-establishment of its Youth Rugby Program for the upcoming 2025/26 season. After a brief hiatus, VRC is proud to relaunch both the Minis (ages 4–12) and U16 Boys and Girls programs—bringing youth rugby back to the heart of Stanley Park.

The revitalized youth section is being spearheaded by Christopher Seyler, a former VRC player and current Head Coach of the VRC Women’s Premier Team. Chris brings a wealth of experience, passion, and leadership to this role. With over 20 years of coaching under his belt, Chris has coached at nearly every level, including:

BC U16 Boys Provincial Team

VRU Senior Men’s and U21 Men’s Teams

Ottawa Irish U16 and U18 Boys Programs

Currently leading the VRU U19 Elite Women’s Team at this month’s PRC Championships at Shawnigan Lake School

Chris is also a certified World Rugby Level 2 Coach, holds the IRANZ High Performance Coaching Certificate, and is a full-time Physical and Health Education teacher at an independent school in Vancouver, where he teaches Grades 1 to 5.

His deep understanding of youth development, character-building through sport, and technical coaching makes him an ideal leader to grow the next generation of VRC players.

Free “Try Rugby” Events Coming This Summer
To kick things off, Chris will be organizing FREE “Try Rugby” events in July and August 2025. These sessions are open to all youth and are a perfect opportunity for kids to try rugby in a safe, inclusive, and fun environment.
